March Marches In

Wow, March 1st already! Unbelievable! I can’t believe 1/6 of the year is already over. Time sure flew! In only 3 months, I’m flying back to Germany again. Not sad about that but I sure hope that I will have three awesome months until then!
Got groceries today and I refuse to get worked up again about the whole issue. Of course that woman never rang me back like she promised me. Well, what do you expect.
I also cleaned today and got the room ready for my lovely friend Juliane is flying out tomorrow and is staying until Wednesday. The funny thing is that she’s flying out on the same flight that my roommate is working on so hopefully she can get a better seat or a snack or at least a friendly welcome aboard.
Then Saturday we’re going on a tourist bur tour to Newgrange. It’s a huge tomb that’s even older than the pyramids. Sounds pretty neat and I hope the weather will be dry if not sunny. For Sunday Juliane wants us to go to Belfast so she can check Northern Ireland of her list of countries visited so we’re having a busy weekend. I emailed my ex about tips for Belfast (as he had once lived there) but so far haven’t heard back from him while at the same time I get a lot of website visits from Charlotte, NC but that might be someone else with an apple surfing around. Do I turn my exes into weirdos? Another one is doing scary stick fighting and I sure hope that doesn’t have anything to do with me. LOL.
Alrighty my dears, have a good night and a good weekend!! Smoochie!

It’s been a bad day…

…please don’t take a picture now, it’s been a bad day….

In the Dark - Day 5I took a picture anyways – actually two but the other one is almost disturbing. Trying to keep up with this 365 days project. The shit started yesterday as our electricity card ran out around 5:30pm and we didn’t have a new card. No prob, we turned on the emergency credit of 2€ and then my flatmate Tony wanted to buy a new one once the security guard’s shift started. Well, when he went there at 7pm, the guard had no cards left to sell. WTF!? We had power until I fell asleep but it went out pretty soon and this morning my milk in the fridge was luke warm. The office doesn’t open until 9am – the time that I have to be at work by. Well, most of the stuff in the fridge and freezer will be spoiled and needless to say that’s totally fucked up. We had a system going, it worked fine, but the management company’s system obviously is failing to work properly and I have to suffer damage from that. I don’t mind taking my shower in the dark and not being able to boil water in the morning that much but I do mind losing my groceries of about 50€ value, which I had to haul back from the supermarket getting all sweaty and losing precious time.
So I called the management company today and this biatch was totally rude. No apology no nothing. She was like “well, you should have had a system in place”. Äh yes, we have one in place and it worked. Their system didn’t as we couldn’t buy a new card. “Yeah well you should have had a spare card.” That was the one that we had used the night before so we wanted to get a new one but since the office closes at 5 and the guard didn’t have any more cards and we couldn’t activate the emergency credit a second time. We did everything correctly, they screwed up. “Well, I can only talk to my boss again but she’ll just say that you should have a system in place and keep spare cards” Are you fucking kidding me?!
And so much to the predjudice “The Irish are really really friendly and ready to help”. Uhu yeah – NOT.

Cat Got My Tongue :P

As I wrote earlier, my accent is suffering big time. When I came here my English was perfect and everybody thought I was American and it sounded natural and I was able to talk perfectly fine without thinking and without accent!
Well, having been here for 24 days now, my English has started to suck! My tongue isn’t lose, it’s tensed up and I can here and feel my accent coming through. Wahhhh! I guess hearing everyone speak Irish English here messed up my American English big time but I can’t get my tongue wrapped around Irish English just yet either so it’s gone back to German English, which I haven’t had for more than 2 years now. Shite!
Good thing Richard is coming over next week so I can practise speaking proper English. Feel like I need to see a speech therapist or get a tongue massage lol. Prolly wouldn’t bother me that much if I couldn’t hear the accent myself and feel how my tongue is all twisted when I talk. Weird feeling! I need help.

Another Weekend Gone By

Cheers my lovely readers (includes also those of you who don’t comment)!
I can’t believe it’s Sunday night again and I have to get up and go to work again in 9 hours (well getting up that is). Uahhh! Hate Mondays!
After being almost the last one in the office on Friday – I was also the first one to come in after our general manager because everybody was hung-over from some good-bye dinner that I hadn’t been invited to – I went home and then out again to buy some plants. Geez, you wouldn’t believe how complicated buying plants it! No direct sunlight, cold temperature, warm temperature, natural light, sunny places – ah these plants are needy! I finally bought one that was on sale for 3€ including a pot that doesn’t like direct sun and then one that is ok with direct sun but cost me a whooping 5€ plus a pot. My room is much nicer though now that the plants keep me company. 🙂
Saturday I went to the city centre to get some errands done before my friends invade the coutnry starting next weekend. I got the keys cut, bought an air mattress and a SIM card and some other things that I needed. Got a cute new umbrella! 🙂 Red with little white dots. I think I’d collect umbreallas like purses if I lived here permanently…
Back home I did laundry and it’s still drying on my “laundry horse”. My room was super humid this morning – nasty! Now I have to do a white load in a few days or maybe it can wait until after next weekend, when Juliane has used the sheets anyways. Hmmm.
At night my pilot neighbors came over and Elena, Francesca and I hung out with them for a while, sipping pink wine and chatting away.
Today I was wide awake again (Saturday too) way too early because there is street construction going on in front of my window. After a little lounding around the apartment, I took my camera and walked the 3.5 km to the National Botanic Garden. Walking around the area was nice as I got to see other residential areas of Dublin, which were a tad bit nicer than the areas around mine up here. Though I did walk through the ghetto “Ballymun” which was a bit scary in parts with broken windows etc. but they are redoing the whole area – I guess juppifying it a bit. Looks nice now.
The Botanic Garden was lovely, with an amazing palm house and cute squirrels. So yeah, took lots of pictures at the garden and then walked back north. Grabbed a coffee on my way but it was super nasty. I had figured I’d order an Americano to avoid crappy “normal” coffee but it was really rather gross.
Back home I tried making HDR photos out of my pictures and then the pilots invited me over for dinner and it was oh so delicous!! Also very nice not having to cook. 😉
Well, I’m uploading my pictures to flickr so check them out! 🙂
I hope your week is gonna be great!

PS: Yeah, it rained every day this week but I guess it’s so normal here that it’s almost not worth mentioning. 😉
