San Interviews Me

A while ago, Sannie sent me these questions as most of you had some interviews going on. so here goes:

1. If there was one person -dead or alive- that you could choose to meet, who would that be?
Hmmm not sure. Maybe my aunt who passed away in 2005.
Oh and uhm yeah, Robbie Williams! πŸ˜‰

2. What is your best memory from highschool?
Ok so we’re looking for an event between the classes 9-13. At high school or also from my life while I was in high school? I really enjoyed the times my friends and I met up to work on our graduation magazine. We always met at my friend Marc’s place and had the best times working away. A lot of times we were really annoyed by my friend Jens who did so many funny yet super annoying things like taking photos while he was at the loo etc. Not sure why we didn’t kill him one of these days there. πŸ˜‰
The five of us still hang out regularly whenever we’re all in town and it’s great fun.

3. What do you like most about yourself, what the least?
Well there are a lot of things that I like about myself. I’m really proud that I’ve come a long way from being this shy little girl that cried so hard every time she was dropped at Kindergarten (daycare) and am now travelling the world (ok not the world but some places ;-)) all by myself.
What I like the least is that sometimes I have a really hard time to talk comfortably with people. I’d love to be someone who makes people feel at ease and can chitchat with them about everything and just have an auro around you that just draws people to you. Ah well. Oh yeah I also don’t like the size of my breasts at all!

4. Having lived in different places, do you consider yourself an “international person”?
Well not sure how you define international person. I am definitely German – something I always note when I’m abroad but I have picked up so many traits from other cultures American, Italian, Indian, and Irish people that make me less traditional German than most Germans are. So I guess, yes!

5. What do you miss most about the US?
My happiness. I was just so frickin’ happy most of the times I was there. My pittyful job fulfilled me, I love my way of living there, the weather, the pool, the shopping possibilities, the politeness, Charlotte, …

If you want to be interrogated by me:

1. Leave me a comment saying, β€œInterview me.”
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will update your weblog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Monday Again…

Had a really nice weekend with my friend Jens here. We went out for pizza on Friday, then walked around Temple Bar with a not sooo yummy ice cream from Burger King and then had a cocktail at Cafe en Sienne. Saturday we wanted to have rolls for breakfast but they were super moldy (and I had just bought them the day before at ALDI and they said best before june07!!) but luckily I had bread, too. Anyways, ALDI gave me my money back without fussing about it and then we headed to town to do the Guinness Storehouse tour. It was nice and we got a pint of Guinness (and the glasses ;-)) plus the great view from the top of the building. Interestingly enough, they use German hops for their brewing!
More sightseeing and shopping downtown after that and then we had Indian for dinner. Yum! After a gazillion night photos from Jens we took the bus back home.
Sunday we took the train to Dalkey where all the rich and famous live. We couldn’t find a fish & chips place and so had to eat normal food at a normal place but then afterwards we walked along the coast and Jens got really frustrated by seeing all these rich people’s houses and cars. ;-). Ice-cream cheered him up a bit though I hope. Took the train and the bus and a taxi back home and then sent Jens off to the airport with that same taxi. Nothing else really happened. I went to bed at 9pm because I was so tired from the week and the weekend. This air mattress that my visitors sleep on is so annoying when they turn around and Jens turned a lot during the night so I kept waking up. I feel pretty awake today though. πŸ™‚

My sister decided to go to a family from Connecticut in Glastonbury and not to the one in Texas. How far from you is that Uti? I’d have gone to TX but that’s just me and it’s obviously her year and if she’s so confident that this family is loads better than the other then I wish her all the best for it! But hey, no pool in the backyard! πŸ˜‰

Other shocking news are that I might have caries! I found this black, tiny strip in my wisdom tooth! Ahhhh! I’ve never had caries before so I am really shocked! It’s no wonder really because the gums were covering it half way but not completely for a long time so obviously food came to the tooth but I couldn’t reach it with my toothbrush to get it out from under the gum pieces. Arg! It doesn’t hurt or anything but I can’t get the black off by brushing or poking it with a toothpick. Hmpf! Will buy some fluorine stuff later today to try and keep it small until I’m back home and can go to the dentist. I’m just so dissappointed! πŸ™

Are you sure this is Ireland?

Seriously, I saw some parts of Ireland this weekend that made me doubt that I was on this island. Furthermore, it did not rain in about 5 days. That along deserves to be mentioned. πŸ˜‰

After having shown Michaellyn the highlights of Dublin on Thursday, we picked up our rental car from the airport and then headed southwest on Friday morning. No traffic at all considering it was Easter weekend.
Rock of CashelWe stopped at the Rock of Cashel and walked around there. The weather was gorgeous and there were some benches where we had some picknick. Yum!
Me kissing the Blarney Stone! Then we headed to the Blarney Castle as Michaellyn had always wanted to kiss the Blarney Stone. Apparently it gives you eloquence. Well, we did it, and I even did it twice due to some photo probs. But fear not, there’s photographic evidence that I did kiss it! πŸ˜‰ Kissing the Blarney Stone is kind of scary with you dangling head over the castle wall and only some old mate holding you while your hands desperately grasp some iron bars. Don’t think I’ll do that again.
After Blarney we checked into our hotel in Cork – a very nice city by the way – and then walked around a bit and had dinner. Unfortunately it was Good Friday so the pubs were all closed but oh well…

Saturday morning we drove to Killarney to drive on the Ring of Kerry – a route that goes round a peninsula. After a stroll in the Killarney National Park, the road got super winding and narrow and it took us an hour for a fifth of the whole route. We were thinking of just going back then because it was already 2pm then but some bikers told us that that had been the worst and it’d get much better afterwards. Thankfully it did and the views were so worth it! We also found a beach and climbed down to it only to discover a road that led down once we were down. πŸ™‚ But we used the road to go back up to our car so yay!
Another stop in Waterville where Charlie Chaplin’s daughter has a house and then we drove to Killarney to have dinner before heading back to Cork.

Easter Sunday we checked out of our hotel and got the car out of the carpark (and it had a new scratch thankyouverymuch) and went to Cobh (say “Cove”). Originally we had only planned to take a look around for an hour or so and then move on but the town and the weather were so nice that we spent the whole day there. Had some yummy brunch at the Lazy Bean Cafe (eggs, bagel), enjoyed the sun, looked at the cathedral, searched for the Titanic memorial, looked at the Queenstown Story museum, had ice-cream. Lovely day!

MySpace

I am no where near an addiction to myspace or surf around it all the time but sometimes it’s really cool! I just found my old host-brother and host-sister from my year in NJ 1998/1999. Couldn’t get in touch with them anymore because they had moved from the address that I had. I can’t believe how old they are now! My bro was 7 when I lived with them and now he’s 16!!! That’s how old I was when I lived with them for cripes sake! The sis is 14 now – wow!! When we shared a room she was 5!! So they are teenagers now, the boy is going to high school and I’m sure they’re all cOoL anD DaT! πŸ˜‰
Seems like they never aged to me, as they’re still these small kids in my head, all sweet, and now the girl is wearing sun glasses and is showing of her body! Well, long time no see I guess! πŸ™‚
So thanks myspace!
