Super Creative Bridal Shower

Awesome Bridal Shower

One of the American wedding traditions that we don’t have back home is a bridal shower. And then there are also  showers for expecting moms (baby showers). The original concept was to shower the (young) bride with gifts so she is ready for her own household. Granted we’re already living together so the gifts aspect was really secondary for me but I’ve always enjoyed the social aspects of showers. So I was a little on the fence as to whether or not I wanted to have one but the whole “you only have one chance in your life to have one (hopefully)” concept prevailed. My awesome U.S. based bridesmaids really hit the nail on the head in terms of how to throw the perfect bridal shower.

The girls really outdid themselves with super cute self-made decoration including tissue paper pendants, accordion photo displays, a decorated bridal chair, chalkboard calligraphy, arranged flower bouquets and then some. They had also set up stations to sign a champagne bottle where guests could leave us sweet notes for our first anniversary and with notecards for marriage advice.

Bridal Shower food and deco

The food and beverage were excellent with mimosas, infused waters, salad with bacon vinaigrette, fresh fruit, kebobs, quiche and home-made cupcakes. DELICIOUS!

We played a fun game where the ladies had to do a dare or answer questions about the bride or the bride and groom. And then as a take home party favor my bridesmaids had put together this awesome make-your-own tea bar! They had loose Ceylon, Green and Earl Grey teas as bases and then you would mix your flavor additions like orange peel and chai spices in. How creative and perfect for this tea lover!

I’m sooo glad I had a bridal shower. It was so wonderful spending girly time with everyone and it was so festive and the girls’ creativity blew me away. I’m one lucky gal!

Shape – Photo A Day 8

Round Amethysts
I’ve been neglecting my jewelry making. I have soooo many beautiful beads that are just screaming to become part of a very special accessory for some pretty lady out there. And considering that jewelry making is one of my resolutions for 2013 I should be cranking out new pieces left and right. But, I am lacking inspiration right now. What is writer’s block for the jewelry maker? Beading block? Hmmm! Well, perhaps this weekend. The amethysts are out of my craft cabinet so I might as well transform them from round shaped stones into a dashing ensemble of hand-made jewelry.

Paper – Photo A Day 5

20130505-153204.jpgI had to think a bit about today’s photo. What was it gonna be?! The Sunday paper? Mother’s Day card to be put in the mail? Passport? Some crazy origami exercise I had yet to find on Pinterest? My thoughts eventually wandered over to my bookshelf and my little collection of photo books. Certainly one of my favorite uses of paper!

Pinteresting: Wedding Invitation Ornament

Wedding Invitation Ornament made by Sannipanni
Wedding Invitation Ornament

I had wanted to show you guys some gifts I made last year but of course couldn’t write about them before Santa had delivered them. 🙂 As you know I may or may not have a minor addiction to Pinterest, which is your own collection of wonderful virtual pinboards to “pin” – save- all those great links that would otherwise have non-descript names like “Mashed Potato Recipe 1, 2, 3” in your overflowing bookmarks menu. Curious? These are my Pinterest Boards.
With Christmas quickly approaching, I found myself pinning loads of crafty things last fall – one of them being Christy Robbins’s Wedding Invitation Ornament. My best friend got married last year and, as luck would have it,  I had never gotten around to taking their invitation from my car’a passenger door storage.
An empty, clear ornament from the craft store later I cut her invitation in stripes, curled them around a pen, and placed them in the ornament. Added a cute piece of wedding dress inspired ribbon and in a gift box it went.
I was super happy with how easy to make this super sweet ornament was and the newly weds loved it!

Only wished I would have thought of this before all the other weddings I attended in the past years. Ergo, do yourself a favor and save this year’s invitations so you can make the most thoughtful Christmas gifts this December!
